Customer Brief:
In September 2024, Warmco installed an energy efficient air source heat pump HVAC system for Legrand in Cramlington. For this factory heating project, Warmco were asked to supply and install four 28kw Powrmatic (Innova- Panasonic Jet air stream) Eeco-X high efficiency, suspended, commercial unit heat pumps, into this brand-new, portal framed building.
Features of the Heating System:
Legrand asked Warmco to offer energy efficient factory heating for these brand-new premises. They wanted to invest in a modern energy-efficient system which could provide a cost-effective alternative to traditional fossil fuel heating. Specifically, they asked us to keep a section of this manufacturing space up to 20c when it was minus 1C outside. We were asked to add ductwork to the Eeco-X units to guarantee the distribution of heat around the building. However, alternatively these units can be supplied with self directing air nozzles to emit the warm air. These would have an air throw of up to 30m and can swivel, to direct the heat emitted into different the areas and levels of the space. Another huge advantage of these Eeco units is that they can also be set up to work in reverse in summer, to cool the space, where this facility is required.
We also installed ten Winterwarm WCU40EC destratification (heat recovery) fans on thermostatic controls. Each fan was suspended 1m from the roof purlins, to provide two full air changes per hour. These are high efficiency axial fans which push large volumes of heated air back to the working zone. The fan operates when the roof space temperature rises. They could also potentially provide ‘free heat’ if positioned over lights or machines that generate their own heat. Adding these fans adds to the energy efficiency of the system by further reducing the heating output required. This installation took four weeks for our engineers to complete.
