Customer Brief:
In November 2023, we were asked to install a Winterwarm XR50 plus, suspended, gas fired, warm air space heater into their 5,500sq. ft. showroom space and two Winterwarm XR30 plus, suspended, gas fired, warm air space heaters into their 2,500 sq. ft. roll end warehouse.
Features of the heating system:
These premises are a carpet sales showroom and a roll ends warehouse. So, for this project we chose smaller, unobtrusive heaters. Previously the premises had floor mounted heaters which were not powerful enough to adequately heat the areas, but they also took up valuable floor space We suspended the heaters using metal work fixed to the roof purlins, and we flued the emitted gases through the walls. For the showroom, we chose a Winterwarm XR50 plus, high efficiency heater. These heaters can modulate the heat output from 50.7 kw at full power, and will automatically switch to 31.5 kw on low fire when the thermostat detects that the area has reached the desired temperature, this can save an additional 30% (compared to non-modulating heaters). For the roll ends warehouse, we chose to install two Winterwarm XR30 plus, gas fired, high efficiency heaters. These heaters can modulate the heat output from 28.9 kw at full power, and will automatically switch down to 17kw on low fire. All of these heaters are at least 94% efficient and comply with ErP Regulations 2021. We also installed three WCU40 Winterwarm Destratification (heat recovery) fans throughout the buildings (each with 3,200 metres air change per hour). These would be used to push down any heat gathering at height within the building. As these are also thermostatically controlled, they can recirculate heat and reduce the need to use the heaters and save fuel, potentially offering another cost saving of up to 30%. The installation was completed in four days and importantly for many customers, it was completed on schedule.
