Customer Brief:
In March 2024, we were asked to install one Winterwarm XR100+ and three TR150 gas-fired, warm air, space unit heaters into these 40,000 sq. ft. warehouse premises.
Features of the Heating System:
These premises are a retail warehouse, so on this project we were asked to provide background heating for the aisles where customers are moving around (using the TR150s) and to spot heat the checkout area (using the XR100+). We were replacing older, less efficient Combat Elite Pro gas unit heaters and we decided to reduce the height that the heaters were suspended at, to more easily transfer the heat to the lowest levels of the building. We suspended the heaters from the purlins and we flued the emitted gases through the roof. Due to the height of the roof, we organised to work with our approved local roofing contractor to seal the roof flues. These heaters can modulate the heat output and will automatically switch to low fire when the thermostat detects that the area has reached the desired temperature, this can save up to an additional 30% (compared to non-modulating heaters). As an example of this the TR150 heaters can start up at 140kw to heat the building from cold, then will modulate down to 100kw when the space is to temperature, similarly the XR100, varies from 87kw down to 57. The installation was completed in five days and we worked in close consultation with our customer to close sections of the warehouse on a rolling programme, so that it could stay open and valuable custom was not lost.
