The customer was keen to be energy efficient.
We installed three HR100 condensing heaters, each producing a maximum heat output of 96.8 kW, which we suspended from the roof steels, 4m/5m from the floor and situated so that the front heater drained into the front drain and the two side heaters drained in to gravel at the side of the building. The premix burner on this heater allows it to modulate back to 30% of its maximum capacity meaning it can very precisely adjust its heat output to the demand received through the room thermostat. Additional efficiency is realised by the vertical gradient control which continuously measures the temperature gradient by means of a sensor in the heater and one in the room thermostat. Should the temperature gradient increase above the set value, the unit will switch on the fan and bring down the warm air which has accumulated under the ceiling.
We also installed eight WCU60 Winterwarm destratification fans along the apex of the roof, suspended 1m from the roof purlins, to provide large volumes of re-circulated air back to the working zone. An integral thermostat operates the fan when the roof space temperature rises and can provide ‘free heat’ if positioned over lights or machines that generate their own heat. This can save up to 30% on running costs for the heater.
